INCA TRAIL & MACHU PICCHU 1 DAY

DAY 1: Cusco - Ollantaytambo – KM104 – Wiñay Wayna – Sun Gate – Machu Picchu – Aguas Calientes – Cusco:

4-4:15AM Departs Cusco- Pick-up from your selected location in Cusco for the journey with our transport to the train station in Ollantaytambo (1.5Hrs). Here you will take the train to KM 104 (trail head-1 hour in the train). At KM 104 (2,100m/6,927ft), you will begin the trek and pass by the first checkpoint. Afterward, you will start a moderate climb for 3 to 4 hours to the magnificent archaeological site of Wiñay Wayna (2,650m/8,747ft). Once you arrive, you will enjoy the spectacular views of the Urubamba Canyon, stunning Inca sites, Inca terraces, and the connection with nature. After touring around this Inca site, you will have time to eat the box lunch included in your tour.

You will then continue hiking toward the Sun Gate (2,730 m / 9,007 ft), where you will enjoy your first spectacular view of Machu Picchu in all its brilliance and majesty. After taking in the breathtaking scenery, you will walk downhill for approximately 45 minutes to reach the citadel of Machu Picchu (2,400 m / 7,890 ft).

Upon arrival, you will have time to take photos and admire the incredible surroundings. You will then enjoy a guided tour of Machu Picchu following Circuit 1 (Panoramic Route) only. During this tour, your guide will explain the fascinating history, architecture, and cultural significance of the ancient Inca citadel while you explore the designated panoramic viewpoints. Please note that Circuit 1 focuses on panoramic views and does not include an extensive visit to the inner archaeological areas of Machu Picchu.

Then you will have a bus down to Aguas Calientes. There, you will have free time to eat and explore the town. You will take the train back to Ollantaytambo. Once you arrive there, the staff will be waiting for you to transfer you back to Cusco. You will arrive around 11:00-11:30PM at your hotel.
