Rainbow Mountain Hike Full Day
We will pick you up early from our agreed upon meeting place between 3-4:00am (the exact time will be determined the day before the trip) and set out on a drive through the South Valley. The drive to the trailhead at Quesiuno (4,326 m / 14,189 ft.) is approximately 3 hours long. Once we reach the Inkintuyoc Bridge, we will stop to enjoy a continental breakfast.
We then start off on our challenging hike alongside a lovely stream. You will have the opportunity to see herds of alpacas and llamas. We will have consistent views of the Ausangate Mountain as well, which is the highest peak in the Cusco region. We will hike through rural villages and possibly have the opportunity to interact with local children.
After a total hike of approximately 4 hours, we finally reach our destination...The Rainbow Mountains (5,020 m / 16,466 ft.). After getting over the shock of their beauty, you will have time to explore the area, to take photos and soak in the environment. We will spend approximately 30 minutes at the top if time permits.
We will then begin the descent down to the starting point. The hike will take another approximate 3 to 4 hours. Once we reach the bottom, we will enjoy our traditional style lunch before meeting with our transportation that will be awaiting our return.
We will then embark on the 3-hour drive back to Cusco and drop you off at or near The Plaza de Armas. Approximate arrival time is usually between 6 and 7 PM but can vary depending on the speed of the group.
